Which wedding stationery should you choose, and is it needed?… There is no right or wrong answer to this question. Wedding stationery is a personal preference and for many couples, can be a great way to help personalise their wedding day/celebration for themselves and their guests, creating that extra bespoke and personal touch. Wedding stationery can consist of a variety of different items and decorations and is not limited to just main wedding invitation cards. Here we guide you through some of the most popular types of stationery our couples tend to opt for.
Save the date cards:
These are popular and highly recommended for couples who plan their wedding several months (or even years!) in advance, as it is a good way to get the date out quickly to guests, without needing much information about the day itself. These typically do not contain a lot of information; however, they can be as detailed as you would like. Sending out ‘Save the Date’ cards are ideal as soon as you know your date and have possibly secured it, i.e. with your preferred venue booked.
The Main Wedding Invitation:
These are the formal invitations that hold most, if not all, of the key details of the day/event/celebration itself. We advise these to be sent out to guests, preferably, at least six months before the wedding and usually contain more specific details, such as timings of the day, location, dress code, dietaries, RSVPs, etc. If you have already sent out a ‘Save the Date’, then you may have more flexibility on the time frame to get these out, but the sooner the better, so that you can give your guests plenty of time to respond and plan for your special day!
Bridal shower / Groom’s stag/ Rehearsal dinner:
Some couples also opt to have separate Evening invitations (different dates/timings or locations) for other celebrations surrounding the wedding day itself and for those guests who may not be invited to the whole day’s events.

On the Day stationery:
Examples of these include items such as table menu cards, guest name table cards, table plan(s) and/or decorative table favours that are unique to each guest. These are ideal if you have a particular wedding theme in mind that you can incorporate into these items, or if you are looking for that more personalised, wow-factor experience for your guests.
Post-wedding – Thank you cards:
These are usually sent out immediately or a few weeks after the wedding day has taken place. This is a popular option as many couples enjoy writing a personalised message, thanking guests for their gifts and for helping to celebrate their special day!
